Cardiac arrest is one of the UK’s biggest causes of premature death and every second counts when it comes to treatment.

In Cardiac Arrest the normal electrical rhythm that controls the heart is replaced by a chaotic disorganised rhythm called Ventricular Fibrillation (VF). Only one treatment has been found to be effective; DEFIBRILLATION.  The quicker VF can be treated by defibrillation the greater the chance of successful resuscitation. This is where a Community First Responder can save lives.

CFRs are trained on the following principles known as the ‘Chain of Survival’:

1) Early Ambulance Access

2) Early Effective CPR

3) Early Defibrillation

4) Early Advanced Life Support

Midlands Emergency Response is a financially self-supporting CFR scheme.

We rely on generous donations from the residents and businesses in the local community to help us carry on saving lives.

West Midlands Ambulance Service provide us with support and training but we need donations to provide new kit, uniforms and equipment.

Your donation, no matter how big or small, goes a long way and helps us to continue our work.
