Midlands Emergency Response Co-ordinator and CFR delivers speech at Nuneaton Town Hall

Our award-winning Nuneaton Community First Responder Jean Harris was recently invited to give a talk about volunteering at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

Jean delivered a speech to a group on the Call to Active Citizenship course, a programme of interesting talks, lectures and practical classes setup by Warwickshire County Council.

The course is for members of the public who are interested in learning more about being active as responsible citizens, in support of their community.

Jean talked about her role as a Community First Responder in Nuneaton, speaking about the types of calls she usually goes to and the number of hours she gives up to carry out her role.

The group were told about the loss of the charity’s Fiat 500X Community First Responder car in Nuneaton and about the fundraising to raise money for a replacement CFR car.

Following the talk Jean was approached by a resident, Annette Thompson, who was inspired by her speech and wanted to donate some money to MER.

Annette, the owner of WagPals Pet Services in Nuneaton, kindly donated a massive £2000 towards the purchase of another car.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Annette from everyone at Midlands Emergency Response, her generous donation has helped us take another big step towards replacing our Nuneaton CFR car.

We’re currently trying to raise as close to £7500 as possible to purchase a replacement vehicle, preferably an ex-ambulance service rapid response vehicle. The purchase of the car should cost us around £5000-£6000 and we then need to pay insure the vehicle and to update the livery.

Can you help us? You can make a donation through our website by going through the car fundraising page or by clicking the donate button throughout the site. Payment will be made via PayPal to ensure your security.
