See A Community First Responder In Action
Meet Jean, our award-winning Community First Responder in Nuneaton
As part of Volunteers’ Week 2018, Warwickshire Community & Voluntary Action (Warwickshire CAVA) asked to film our Nuneaton Community First Responder Jean Harris, winner of the Individual Health and Wellbeing Award in 2017.
Jean first became a Community First Responder in 2013, responding to 999 calls on behalf of West Midlands Ambulance Service. Jean is well-known in the local community and regularly gives up her time to volunteer for over fifty hours each month, reaching thousands of patients in and around Nuneaton.
Volunteers’ Week takes place 1-7 June every year and is a way to say thanks to the many people around the UK who give back to the community in a variety of ways.
This short clip was put together to show how a Community First Responder works. Community First Responders like Jean respond from their own homes, whilst some provide cover whilst out and about in their area. In the West Midlands CFRs work in partnership with West Midlands Ambulance Service and respond to 999 calls within five miles of their location, providing vital assistance before an ambulance clinician arrives to take over.

The footage in the video was filmed by WCAVA and the video was kindly put together by Huxo Creative, a local website design and marketing agency. Thank you to both Rowena at Warwickshire CAVA and Dan at Huxo for your continued support.
The car featured in the video is our Coleshill response car. We’re currently trying to raise £7500 to purchase another response car to be based in Nuneaton. If you’d like to make a donation towards a Nuneaton CFR car you can donate securely via PayPal or if you’d prefer, you can send a cheque made out to Midlands Emergency Response, 48 Beechwood Road, Nuneaton, CV10 9DP.
